Day 04: Earliest Childhood Memory
Earliest childhood memory, I had to do a lot of thinking on this one. With so many memories from my childhood it was hard trying to filter out the earliest. After much filtration and purification of the ol' noggin, I think I have it!
When I was growing up, my grand mom and grand pop would come over for the evening on Saturday nights. After I would go up to bed, my parents and grand parents would gather around the kitchen table for coffee, television, and conversation. One Saturday night I happened to come down stairs and "Rocky III" was on. It was the part shortly after Mickey dies and they were laying him to rest.
I was probably in the age range between six and eight. When I saw this part I had asked, "weren't we here before?" My parents had no idea what I was talking about. I went back upstairs, and that was that. Skip ahead some years to my my grand father's (on my mom's side) funeral. I would have been about twelve at the time, and at his service I looked around and said, this is the place I was talking about all those years ago. My parents didn't remember, but I asked if I would have ever been here before. I wasn't there for my grand mom's funeral because I was young, so I didn't see it then. Then my mom said that when I was really little, maybe only two years, if that, my mom's uncle had passed and it was at the same place and I was there with her. I don't remember that service I just remember the mausoleum that looked just like the one in Rocky III! Weird, huh?
Well there you have it, day four is in the bag and you now have my earliest childhood memory, at least to the best of my knowledge that is it! Come back tomorrow for day five!
Take Care, God Bless, and STAY SMOOTH! :)
